Baseboard, Trim & Interior Finishing After Flood Damage

The details that make a repaired room look finished

After drywall and flooring, it is the finish work that homeowners notice every day: baseboards that swelled and split when the water hit, door casings that split at the floor, doors that absorbed water and no longer close cleanly, and paint that blistered. Florida GC Group LLC (Lic. #RG291104194) handles the finishing stage of flood and water-damage repair across the Treasure Coast.

What we replace and finish

  • Baseboards: MDF baseboards almost never survive standing water – they swell and crumble. We remove and replace them, caulk and paint to match.
  • Door casings and trim: split or swollen trim replaced; sound trim repainted.
  • Interior doors: water-damaged hollow-core doors replaced and rehung.
  • Interior painting: priming (stain-blocking where water left marks) and repainting repaired rooms.
  • Subfloor touch-ups at thresholds and transitions where flooring was replaced (see Flooring Replacement After Water Damage).

Why finishing belongs with the rebuild

Splitting finish work between companies is how gaps happen – the drywall crew leaves baseboards off “for the painter,” the painter skips them. As your general contractor we sequence the whole repair: drywall, flooring, trim, paint – one scope, one itemized estimate, one accountable company.
